Amanda Engel was a four-year starter in net for the Golden Eagles and sits in the top 10 of every career statistical goalkeeping category in program history. The Centennial, Colorado native notched 50 career wins with the Golden Eagles and registered a 0.92 goals against average. She is one of just seven individuals in Marquette history with more than 200 career saves and led MU to BIG EAST regular season and tournament crowns in each of her first two seasons on campus.
Amanda (Engel) Roben | 2012-15 | Centennial, Colo.
Current Location:Â Â
I currently live in Denver, Colorado. After I graduated, I lived in Columbus, Ohio for about 15 months before moving back to my home state.Â
Employer/Profession:Â
I am a preschool teacher at All Souls School, a Catholic school out here in Denver. I currently teach Pre-Kindergarten, which is 4-year olds who will be turn five throughout the school year. It can be very challenging at times, but the kids are what make it all worth it at the end of the day.Â
What I remember best about Marquette:Â Â
There are so many things that I remember about Marquette, but one of the top memories I have is our NCAA Sweet 16 game against BYU in our 2012 season. In that game, we all came together as one and fought tooth and nail to try and continue our season. Even though it didn't have the outcome we wanted, it was still one of the best games we had played all season, and one of the most exciting games of my career.
Â
Off the field, my best memories come from the amazing experiences we had as not only a team, but a group of best friends. We were not just a team on the field, but we were a family off the field as well. While each team was different every year, that aspect of family was always there. That was the unique thing about Marquette and one of the driving factors in my choice to play for this team.Â
Fun Fact:Â Â Â
This may not necessarily be "fun" but while I was at Marquette, through the course of my career, I had five surgeries in four years, and played my senior season with a torn labrum in both of my hips. Again, not exactly fun times, but getting through those injuries with both the support of the team and the athletic training staff was a huge part of my time at Marquette.Â
Â
Coach Pelaez on Engel:
"Amanda was a commanding presence and voice on the field. She loved to compete!"
