Foley interns with Student Wellness and Prevention outreach in MU Student Affairs
MILWAUKEE - Senior women's distance runner Emily Foley is the Baird Blue & Gold Student-Athlete of the Month for November 2020, as chosen by Marquette Athletics' Academics and Student Programs staff.
Foley majors in social welfare & justice, with minors in sociology and health studies. She is currently an intern with Student Wellness and Prevention outreach in Student Affairs at Marquette. In that role, she is also on the Alcohol and Drugs Project Team, promoting healthy and mindful activities on campus.
Foley is also the student-athlete representative on CCAB (Counseling Center Student Advisory Board), working to create and promote the narrative of mental health across campus organizations and groups. In addition, Emily is the site coordinator for Midnight Run, a volunteer program providing food to disenfranchised Milwaukee residents. She has also interned with the Oshkosh Area School District Refugee Resettlement Task Force, streamlining integration of refugees into the school system, and she has volunteered as a tutor for children at the Milwaukee Rescue Mission.
The Oshkosh, Wisconsin native is a member of Chi Alpha Sigma (the honor society for student-athletes), SHAPE (peer support mental health group), and participated in LEAD (leadership development training). She has earned Dean's List honors, AD Honor Roll and BIG EAST Academic Honors each year at Marquette.
