The Marquette University men's basketball team (5-5, 1-3 BIG EAST) hits the road this weekend for a 6:30 p.m. CT matchup at Georgetown (3-5, 1-3 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Jan. 2 in McDonough Arena.  CBS Sports Network features the television broadcast, with Chick Hernandez (play-by-play) and Pete Gillen (analyst) calling the action.  Following Saturday's outing, MU returns home to host UConn in BIG EAST play for the first time since the 2012-13 campaign.
Narrow Margin Separates All-Time Series
  Â
Marquette owns a slim 16-13 advantage in the all-time series, with the Golden Eagles claiming wins in seven of the last 10 outings. Â
  Â
All but two of the matchups have come since Marquette joined the BIG EAST in 2005-06.
  Â
The programs first met during the 1941-42 campaign and the Hoyas were able to claim a 35-34 victory. Â The next meeting didn't come until the 1971-72 season and Marquette posted a winning 88-44 decision.Â
  Â
The Golden Eagles swept the home-and-home series in 2019-20 and will be making their first trip to McDonough Arena on Saturday.
Offense Picks Up Production In League Play
  Â
Marquette has found its shooting touch early in league play, despite playing against some of the league's top defensive units.
  Â
Through games of Dec. 29 in league action, the Golden Eagles rank first in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.500) and 3-point field goal percentage (.474) and are scoring 77.0 points per outing, all marks above the squad's season-long statistics.
  Â
Marquette's offense has managed to increase efficiency despite playing three programs (Villanova, 1st - Seton Hall, 2nd - Creighton, 4th) ranked among the top four in the BIG EAST in scoring defense in conference action.
  Â
MU's first four BIG EAST opponents are a combined 10-3 in league competition.
