
Track & Field Heads to GVSU Big Meet on Friday

MU will compete in two more meets before the BIG EAST Indoor Championships
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams head to Grand Valley State University for the GVSU Big Meet this weekend at the Kelly Family Sports Center.
The meet is scheduled to start tomorrow morning, Friday, Feb. 14, with the men's 5000-meter run at 9 a.m. ET. The field events are scheduled to start at noon and the competition will end on Friday night with the relays at 9:15 p.m.
MU is coming off a busy weekend in which the team split up to compete in the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame, the Windy City Rumble in Chicago, and the Parkside Classic in Kenosha.

LAST TIME OUT:
Participating in the heptathlon at the Windy City Rumble, Joe Keys set a new school record - breaking his former record - in the heptathlon with 5,667 points. His performance at the Windy City Rumble put him at No. 7 nationally.
At the Meyo Invitational, Kendall Pfrimmer set a PR in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:39.08 and a ninth-place finish. Daniel Pederson held one of the men's four PR's on the weekend with a time of 14:30.85 and a third-place finish.
At the Parkside classic, the Golden Eagles took home 11 titles with the women winning seven out of the 16 events while the men won four.

The men's and women's travel across town to Milwaukee on Saturday, Feb. 22 to compete in the Panther Tune-Up at the Klotsche Center. After that, MU will prepare for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships from March 1-2 in Cleveland, Ohio.

LAST YEAR AT GRAND VALLEY STATE:
- Marin McClowry tied for second in the women's high jump with a height of 1.64 meters.
- Brad Eagan placed seventh in the men's mile in a time of 4:08.34.
- Samuel Johnson took first place in the men's triple jump with a height of 14.64 meters.
- The men's distance medley relay team of then-senior Alec Miller, Daniel Bendel, Derek Gross, and Brad Eagan broke a 38-year old MU program record with a time of 9:49.05.
- The women's DMR team of Emma Moravec, Evelyn Granados, Amy Gasperlin and Mary Hanson combined for the eighth-fastest time ever at MU with a mark of 11:49.14.
- 2019 Second Team All-American Daniel Armstrong started his senior season off with a bang after finishing in first place in the high jump Dec. 6 at Notre Dame with a height of 2.16 meters/7 feet, 1 inch.
- Cameron Jemison hit the No. 7 all-time mark in program history in the pole vault with a height of 4.65 meters/15 feet, 3 inches in the first meet of the season (Dec. 6).
- Zachariah Murray (400 meters) ran the No. 8 fastest 400m (49.0) all-time in school history.
- Julian Wright's 200m time of 22.13 made No. 6 all-time on the program's top-10 list at Iowa (Jan. 30).
- Arianna Mansavage won the 400m at Iowa (Jan. 30) with a PR time of 56.11, the fourth-best all-time in MU indoor history. She's a two-time BIG EAST notable performer this year.
- Sophomore thrower Lizzy Cagle made the top-10 all-time at MU in the weight throw (17.39 m/57-0.75 ft) with her performance at Parkside (Feb. 8).
- Freshman Juru Okwaramoi (60-meter hurdles) ran a 9.17 in her collegiate debut, a time which landed her in ninth all-time in program history for the event.
- Joe Keys won the 60-meter hurdles at Milwaukee with a new PR of 8.25 (T-3rd all-time).
- Samuel Johnson (6.80) and Julian Wright (6.82) broke the school record in the 60-meter dash on their way to first and second place finishes (record was 6.84 by Josh Word). Daniel Bendel (6.86), who came in third, moves up to No. 4 in school history.
- Julie Clayton set school and facility records with her latest PR in the pole vault (Jan. 18), winning the event with a height of 3.93 m/12-10.72 ft.
- Allie Flando took home wins in both the shot put (13.66 m/44-9.80 ft) and weight throw (17.33 m/56-10.25 ft) at the John Tierney Classic (Jan. 18).
- Mary Hanson (4:59.10) won the mile on Jan. 18 while Kate Jochims (5:04.37) and Caitlin McGauley (5:05.00) finished third and fourth, each setting PR's.
- Jefferson Osunkwo's triple jump of 13.90m/45-7.25 feet (Jan. 25) is a personal record and the No. 9 mark all-time at MU.
- Juru Okwaramoi's 60-meter hurdles time of 9.05 (Jan. 25) is No. 7 all-time at MU.
- Madison Marko's time of 9.15 in the 60-meter hurdles (Jan. 25) is No. 10 all-time. Her pentathlon score of xxxx points is fourth all-time at MU.
- Joe Keys beat his heptathlon school record (Feb. 8) by over 300 points (5,667 points), a score that ranks him in the top-10 nationally this year.
- Daniel Pederson's time of 14:30.85 at the Meyo Invitational (Feb. 7) in the 5000m is No. 5 all-time at MU. He beat his previous PR by .03 seconds.
