MU falls 5-2, Eager to Return to Action on Sunday

MILWAUKEE—The Marquette University women's tennis team was defeated by No. 22 Tennessee, 5-2, on Friday afternoon.

Fleur Eggink found big victory for the Golden Eagles by defeating No. 70 Kaitlin Staines 6-4, 7-6 in singles play. Lesley Foe also earned a win over Callie Creath 2-6, 6-4, 1-0.

The pair of Natalija Popovic and Fleur Eggink took down Carly Briggs and Ariadna Riley in doubles play, 6-4.

Now 2-5 on the season, MU eagerly returns to action Sunday, Feb. 16, by heading to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Play is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. CT.
