Men's Tennis Earns 5-2 Win Over Creighton

Golden Eagles remain undefeated at home
The Marquette University men's tennis team (5-4) opened a three-match homestand with a 5-2 victory over Creighton (3-5) Saturday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles opened the match by claiming the doubles point for the seventh time in nine dual outings. Freshman Will Tennison and senior Brandon Shanklin teamed up for a quick 6-2 win at No. 3 and sophomore Fran San Andres and senior Brett Meyers clinched the point with a narrow 7-5 decision at No. 2.
MU claimed a trio of straight-set wins by Smrek, Meyers and freshman Stefan Dragovic to earn the team victory. Junior Luis Heredia Gomez was also victorious in a tiebreaker at No. 2.
Marquette returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 29 when the team hosts Xavier in the second-straight outing against a fellow BIG EAST Conference opponent.
