Novakovic clinches the win for the Golden Eagles
MILWAUKEE-- The Marquette women's tennis team enjoyed a return home at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium as the Golden Eagles rolled past Creighton, 6-1 on Saturday morning.
Milica Novakic earned the match-clinching victory with a 6-1, 6-3 win at the No. 2 position. It was the first win for Marquette (4-5) over a BIG EAST opponent this season.
The Golden Eagles got on the board first winning the doubles point as the No. 2 tandem of Novakovic and Giulia Turconi and the No. 3 squad of Lesley Foe and Tiana Windbuchler earned a 6-3 and 6-2 victory, respectively.
In singles play, Fleur Eggink took a win at the top spot, while Natalija Popovic, Isabella Franks and Elisabeth Desmarais also claimed smooth victories.
Marquette has a quick turnaround and travels to Western Michigan to take on the Broncos on Sunday. Doubles are slated to begin at 12 p.m. CT.
