Shea Garcia led the Golden Eagles with a season-best four goals
TEMPE, Ariz. – The Marquette University women's lacrosse team fell in a hard-fought battle against Arizona State this afternoon, 18-14.
Shea Garcia led the Golden Eagles with a season-high four goals. Madison Kane, Caroline Steller and Lydia Foust netted two goals each and MU got scoring contributions from eight different players.
Arizona State got off to a hot start in the first half, scoring five of the game's first six goals. MU followed that up by going on a 5-1 run of their own, capped by a Madison Kane free position goal to tie the game at six with 2:43 to play in the half. ASU scored the final goal of the half with seven seconds to play to take a 7-6 lead at the break.
The Sun Devils scored two goals in the first three minutes of the second half to go up three before Shea Garcia and Lydia Foust scored their second goals of the game to bring the score back to 9-8.
Over the next eight minutes of play, however, ASU scored six straight goals to go up 15-8 and MU couldn't get closer than four goals away the rest of the afternoon.
