Altia Anderson leads with a career-high 15 points
QUEENS, N.Y.—A big second half helped the Marquette women's basketball team to a 67-57 win at St. John's on Sunday afternoon at Carnesecca Arena to complete a season sweep of the Red Storm.
Senior Altia Anderson led four MU players in double figures with a career-high 15 points, while Chloe Marotta and Isabelle Spingola added 11 and Camryn Taylor connected on 10 points.
Marquette (18-6, 9-4) dominated the boards to own a 41-29 advantage over the Red Storm (14-10, 7-6) as Spingola pulled down a team-high eight with Selena Lott grabbing seven.
Marquette and St. John's were tied at 32 heading into halftime as the Golden Eagles were led by Anderson's 10 points and shooting 46.9 percent from the floor. The tie broke in the third frame as the Golden Eagles outscored St. John's, 18-8, which proved to be the difference in the game.
The Golden Eagles finished the day shooting 49.1 percent (27-55) from the floor and dished out 18 assists, led by a game-high eight from Lott.
St. John's was led by Alisha Kebbe with 11 points with Qadashah Hoppie and Leilani Correa adding 10 points each.
