Annual Spring trip up next in Orlando
The Marquette University men's tennis team (7-4) wrapped up its three-match homestand with a 6-1 win over UIC (1-8) Sunday afternoon at Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles opened the match by claiming the doubles point. After splitting at the top two positions with UIC, seniors Brandon Shanklin and Alexander Warstler clinched the point with a narrow 7-5 win at No. 3.
Marquette quickly earned the team victory with five straight-set singles wins, with senior Luke Smrek claiming a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 1 to clinch the fourth point.
MU will continue its dual-match campaign this weekend in Orlando on the team's annual Spring trip.
