Marquette faces DePaul Monday night at 7 p.m. CT on FS1
CHICAGO--The Marquette University women's basketball team (24-7) advanced to the championship game of the BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep for the fourth-straight year after a 78-55 win over St. John's (19-12) Sunday night at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Ill. in the semifinals.
The Golden Eagles, the tourney's No. 2 seed, will face top-seeded DePaul (27-5) at 7 p.m. CT on Monday night for the opportunity to claim the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. The two programs, which split the season series, will be meeting each other in the fourth-straight title game. It is the first time in BIG EAST history that the same two teams will meet in the final game for four consecutive years.Â
Junior guard Selena Lott led four players in double figures with 18 points and Marquette shot 56.1 percent from the floor as a team, which marked a BIG EAST Tournament record for the squad. MU also finished with a 41-25 advantage on the boards, the 29th game this season with a rebounding advantage. The Golden Eagles were equally impressive on the defensive end, holding the Red Storm to just 37.3 percent from the floor.
FS1 will feature Monday night's national television broadcast.
