WSOC falls 2-0 to 20th-ranked Georgetown

The Marquette University women's soccer team (8-8-0, 4-5-0 BIG EAST) fell to the 20^th ranked-Georgetown Hoyas (10-0-6, 6-0-2 BIG EAST) in the Golden Eagles' penultimate home BIG EAST regular season match Thursday night.

The Hoyas possessed for much of the first half, limiting the Golden Eagles to only two shots, with one on target. Georgetown was able to take five shots, with three on target.

The Hoyas converted one of their opportunities as junior midfielder Julia Leas scored in the 31^st minute. The goal was assisted by junior forward Gia Vicari and first-year defender Cyanne Doyle.

The Hoyas were able to score their second goal of the match in 72^nd minute, working a ball up the left side before senior midfielder Devon Lis slotted it home past the Marquette netminder. The goal was assisted again by Vicari and Doyle.

Marquette finished the Thursday night match with three shots, one shot on goal, and one save.

UP NEXT: The Golden Eagles host the DePaul Blue Demons (7-9-0, 4-4-0 BIG EAST) for the final BIG EAST regular season match-up for both sides. That match will take place on Oct. 28 at Valley Fields at 7 p.m. CT.
