The Golden Eagles will travel to Madison on Saturday
MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's basketball team defeated the Jackson State Tigers, 83-54, on Tuesday at Fiserv Forum.
Oso Ighodaro paved the way for Marquette (7-1, 0-0 BIG EAST) with a career-high 14 points and a team-high 11 rebounds for his first career double-double. Olivier-Maxence Prosper added a career-high 11 points in 12 minutes.
Ten players appeared in the scoring column for MU, with seven of them totaling eight or more points.
For Jackson State (1-6, 0-0 SWAC), Jayveous McKinnis led with 13 points and a game-high 14 rebounds, and Chance Moore contributed 11 points.

- Jackson State entered Tuesday's matchup coming off its first win of the season, a 75-70 defeat of Louisiana Lafayette on Saturday.Â
- With the victory, MU moves to 2-0 all-time against the Tigers. The two programs had only met once before, with the Golden Eagles claiming the previous meeting 80-61 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Nov. 29, 2015.
- The Golden Eagles remain undefeated at Fiserv Forum in the Shaka Smart era, now with a record of 5-0 in Milwaukee, and Marquette's best start since 2011-12.
- Marquette has never fallen to a team from the Southwestern Athletic Conference, capturing its 26th victory over a SWAC squad on Tuesday night.
- It was a low scoring first half, as the halftime score read 29-29. MU made just two three-pointers in the opening 20 minutes and Jackson State converted just 12 of 33 attempts from the floor.
- Freshman guard Kam Jones earned his first start in a Marquette uniform and totaled a career-high five assists.
- Ighodaro matched his previous career high of seven points in the first half alone.
- After going scoreless in the first twenty minutes, graduate student Darryl Morsell scored the first seven points of the second half.
- Forward Kur Kuath tied his Marquette-high of five blocks while adding eight points and seven rebounds.
- Freshman guard Emarion Ellis also notched a career-high in points with six, including a 4-for-4 performance from the free throw line.
- The Golden Eagles will now take on three teams from Power Five conferences in their next three games, with contests against Wisconsin (Big Ten), Kansas State (Big 12) and UCLA (Pac-12).
