Golf tied for 12th at Hootie Intercollegiate after Round One

AWENDAW, South Carolina – The Marquette University men's golf team is tied for 12th after one round of competition at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina.

Redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn led the Golden Eagles on Sunday with a 2-under 70 after carding four birdies and an eagle in his opening round. The Carney, Michigan native opened his day with a birdie on the 10th hole and added another on 18 before making the turn to the front nine. Eichhorn sat 4-under par after an eagle on No. 4, but posted a double bogey on No. 6. He's tied for seventh on the individual leaderboard.

Josh Robinson, a redshirt freshman, was MU's second finisher on the day, carding a 1-over 73 while beginning the tournament in the No. 5 spot in the lineup. He offset three bogeys with a pair of birdies on holes two and five and is tied for 37th individually.

Nicolás Evangelio shot a 3-over 75, while Tyler Leach was 4-over (76). Leach was even over the final 10 holes of the day after recording four bogeys on his first eight holes.

The second round is slated for Monday at 8 a.m. CT, while Tuesday's final round is set for 7 a.m. CT. Live scoring is available through BirdieFire.
