
Hunter Eichhorn tied for second at The Hootie

The Golden Eagles will tee off in Tuesday's final round at 7 a.m. Central time
AWENDAW, South Carolina – Marquette University redshirt junior Hunter Eichhorn shot a 4-under 68 in Monday's second round and is tied for second at The Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate in Awendaw, South Carolina.
Eichhorn carded an unblemished round with four birdies and nothing over par to move to 6-under (70-68--138) for the tournament. He notched a birdie on his first hole of the day, No. 10, and recorded three birdies over holes 2-6 to move up five spots on the individual leaderboard. He'll be in search of the fifth event victory of his collegiate career on Tuesday and the first since winning the 2019 Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills.
The Golden Eagles are tied for 10th as a team (294-288--582) after shooting an even-par 288 on Monday. Kansas is tied with them, while the pair sits two strokes ahead of tournament-host South Carolina. Auburn and NC State lead the field at 13-under par.
After shooing a 4-over 76 in Sunday's opening round, redshirt sophomore Tyler Leach posted an impressive 2-under 70 on Monday with three birdies and one bogey. He was even par on his final 10 holes Sunday, despite the 76, and sits in a tie for 40th at 2-over for the tournament.
Nicolás Evangelio carded a team-high five birdies on Monday, but shot a 2-over 74 on the day with five bogeys and a double on the par-3 seventh.
