The Golden Eagles and Bulldogs meet in a clash of unbeatens

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's soccer team looks for its fourth victory of the season on Thursday afternoon against Butler at the Bud and Jackie Sellick Bowl in Indianapolis.
Kickoff at the Butler Bowl is set for 2 p.m. Central time and a live broadcast will be available through the Butler Athletics YouTube channel. Live statistics are available through StatBroadcast.
The Golden Eagles (3-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) began BIG EAST Conference play on Sunday afternoon with a 2-0 win over DePaul in Chicago and look to continue their hot start to the season against the Bulldogs.
Freshman forward Elsi Twombly scored MU's second goal against the Blue Demons and leads the squad with three scores through three games. Classmate Lauren Schill made her first career start in net for MU at DePaul and posted a clean sheet with six saves.
Marquette has allowed a total of two goals in its three regular season matches, also posting a 5-0 shutout of Chicago State in the season opener on Feb. 5 and a 3-2 win over Illinois State on Feb. 7.
Butler (4-0, 1-0 BIG EAST) is 2-0 against NCAA Division I foes, with a 4-1 win over Dayton on Feb. 21 in addition to a 3-1 win over DePaul on March 4 in its league opener. In total, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents 24-4 when adding in the early season 8-0 and 9-2 wins over the University of Indianapolis and Marian University, respectively.
Anja Savich leads Butler with six goals and one assist, while Katie Soderstrom has fired a team-high 19 shots and has three goals and three assists. Stephanie Rodriguez has made nine saves and played all 360 minutes in net.
The Bulldogs lead the all-time series against Marquette 5-3-1 and claimed a 3-0 victory in the last meeting between the two teams on Oct. 27, 2019 in Indianapolis.
