MILWAUKEE - The Marquette women's lacrosse team fell 12-11 to No. 19 Denver on Sunday afternoon in double overtime.

The Golden Eagles (5-9, 2-6 BIG EAST) had widespread scoring contributions, with Megan Menzuber, Lindsey Hill, Caroline Steller and Shea Garcia each netting two goals. Madison Kane led the team with two assists.Â

The first half started with the Golden Eagles scoring the first two, followed by a 4-0 run by the Pioneers (10-1, 8-0 BIG EAST). Caroline Steller brought the game level going into the half by scoring two in a row to bring the score to 5-5 halfway through the match. MU was able to hold Denver scoreless for the final 14 minutes of the half.Â

The second half started with Marquette continuing its defensive pressure, which led to a 4-0 scoring run, bringing the score to 9-5. MU's defense held the Pioneers scoreless for the first 15 minutes of the half. After a timeout, Denver answered with a scoring streak of their own, scoring six unanswered to take the lead 11-9.
In the final four minutes of regulation, Lindsey Hill came up clutch twice in a row. She scored with 3:26 left to bring the Pioneers lead to one at 11-10. After a defensive stop and a timeout by MU with 24 seconds left in regulation, the Golden Eagles raced down the field and Lindsey Hill scored her second goal of the game in dramatic fashion, rifling a shot through the five-hole of Denver's goalie.Â
Senior midfielder Emily Cooper won her sixth draw control of the game in the first overtime period and MU had the first chance to end the game. The home team had multiple chances to win it, including a free position shot from Garcia that hit the post.

After a scoreless first overtime period, Denver won the draw and took possession in the second overtime. After several scoring chances, the game ended when Hannah Liddy scored the game-winner with 25 seconds to go in the second overtime period.

Senior goalie Sophia Leva continued to be a standout performer in net for the Golden Eagles, racking up 11 saves.
Mackenzie Wallevand led Denver with four goals while three other Pioneers had two apiece.
