INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana -Â The Marquette women's lacrosse team beat the Butler Bulldogs, 18-5, on Friday afternoon in Indianapolis.

The Golden Eagles (6-9, 3-6 BIG EAST) were led by Megan Menzuber, who scored four goals with one assist. Shea Garcia had a hat trick, Samantha Galvin netted two goals goals and Caroline Steller had one goal with four assists.

MU came out of the gates firing, going up 6-0 in the first 13 minutes of the game. Garcia and Menzuber tallied a pair of goals each in that run while Steller had two assists. After the Bulldogs (1-10, 0-9 BIG EAST) answered with their first goal of the game, the Golden Eagles scored five of the next six goals to end the half, getting tallies from Menzuber, Lindsey Hill, Mary Schumar, Samantha Galvin and Leigh Steiner. Seven different Golden Eagles scored in the first half as they raced out to a commanding 11-2 lead at halftime.
The defense performed admirably in the first half as well. forcing Butler into a dozen turnovers. MU goalie Sophia Leva (6-8) saved six shots in the first 30 minutes of play.

Lydia Foust became the eighth MU player to score with her first goal of the game to start the second half and the running clock was in effect the rest of the afternoon. Following Foust's goal, Menzuber scored her fourth, Shea Garcia scored her third and Hannah Greving and Samantha Galvin netted goals to put MU up 16-2.
Redshirt senior Bridget Danko scored her first goal of the season while senior Mary Dooley closed the game by scoring the first goal of her career.
MU outshot the Bulldogs 45-18 and held a 14-10 edge in draw controls.
Bulldogs goalie Amanda Rumsey saved a game-high 12 shots while Campbell Connors led BU with three goals.

Marquette will be back in action on Sunday, April 25Â in Indianapolis as it takes on Butler (1-10, 0-9 BIG EAST) again. To make the BIG EAST tournament, MU will need to beat Butler on Sunday in addition to Denver beating Villanova and Georgetown beating UConn.
