4/21/2021 10:30:00 AM | Track & Field
Saturday's event will be first at home in exactly two years
The Marquette University track and field teams have another busy week as they continue their respective outdoor campaigns, competing at a pair of events.
The Golden Eagles will be represented by a trio of distance runners at the 54th Annual Hillsdale "GINA" Relays, hosted by Hillsdale College in Michigan on April 22-24. Mallory Lafever, Laurel Moneysmith and Kendall Pfrimmer will all compete in the 10K race on Friday night.
On Saturday, April 24, the Golden Eagles will host their first home meet of the season, the Marquette Open at the Melvin "Bus" Shimek Track & Field Facility. Also participating will be UW-Parkside and Cardinal Stritch. Field events are tentatively scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT, with running competition set for a 2 p.m. CT start.
Saturday's meet will be the first at home in exactly two years for the Golden Eagles since the team hosted the Marquette Midweek Challenge on April 24, 2019.
"We are looking forward to some home cooking this weekend," head coach Bert Rogers said. "Competing at home is always special and something our team has always appreciated. It's been awhile since we have been able to do it."
