Golden Eagles competing at Miami, Eastern Illinois

The Marquette University track & field teams will compete in a pair of additional events this weekend as action in the outdoor season continues.

The Golden Eagles will be represented at the Hurricane Alumni Invitational (April 9-10), hosted by the University of Miami, as well as the Eastern Illinois Big Blue (April 9). MU will send 15 competitors to Coral Gables, Florida and the some of the teams' distance runners will head to EIU to competed in the 10,000m race.

"We are always looking for the opportunity to compete and both of these events fit into the opening in our schedule," head coach Bert Rogers said. "Not a lot of meets feature the 10,000m, so it will be good to get in a race against a quality field."

Marquette's men's and women's teams opened the outdoor season April 2 at the Redbird Invite and the meet was highlighted by 15 top-3 placers, four top-10 program marks, three event winners and a pair of freshman records.
