Golden Eagles open season with three-match homestand
The Marquette University women's soccer team (0-0-0) opens its 29th season of competition and second under head coach Frank Pelaez on Thursday night when the team welcomes Central Michigan (0-0-0) at 7 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
MU Looks For More Series Success
The Golden Eagles are 4-0-1 all-time against the Chippewas, most recently claiming a 1-0 win over CMU on Sept. 1, 2017 in Milwaukee.  Four of the five all-time meetings have come at Valley Fields, including a 1-0 victory in the 2010 NCAA tournament.
Fan Fest Thursday Night at 6 p.m.
The Marquette University men's and women's soccer teams will resume their annual Fan Fest at Valley Fields on Thursday, Aug. 19 prior to the women's home opener against Central Michigan. The event and game are free to attend and open to all.

Fan Fest, which begins at 6 p.m. and is expected to conclude at the start of the women's match at 7 p.m. The MU men's squad will participate in a skills zone and fun soccer activities prior to the match and will autograph their 2021 schedule posters. The women's team will be available to sign autographs following the match.
Wealth Of Experience Returns
The Golden Eagles return 24 letterwinners and nine total starters (goalkeepers Lauren Schill and Mikki Easter shared time in net) from last season's squad that finished 6-4-0, 4-4-0 BIG EAST in the shortened spring season.
Included in that group is each of the team's top eight scorers from 2020, led by redshirt freshman forward Elsi Twombly, who led the roster with a trio of goals and eight points.  She netted a goal in each of her first collegiate matches and was tabbed to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Redshirt junior Katrina Wetherell was named All-BIG EAST Second Team and has started in 43 of her 46 career appearances.
A total of six players own at least 40 career appearances in the Blue & Gold, led by senior Kylie Sprecher's 65 matches (51 starting assignments). Â Midfielder Maddie Monticello is right behind with 60 games overall and has made 42 starts.
In net, redshirt freshmen Lauren Schill and Mikkie Easter split time in 2020. Â Schill made seven starts and Easter had five of her own, with the duo combining for a 0.98 goals-against-average and a total of 43 saves and four shutouts.

- After wearing No. 7 as a freshman in 2020, forward Elsi Twombly will wear No. 22 this year.
- Redshirt sophomore Josie Kelderman suffered a right knee injury in the exhibition at Wisconsin and will miss the entire 2021 campaign.
