
WSOC Earns Back-to-Back Wins with 3-0 Victory Over St. Thomas

Golden Eagles back in action Friday night vs. NDSU
The Marquette University women's soccer team (3-3-0) topped the University of St. Thomas (2-3-1) 3-0 on Sunday afternoon to record back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
After over 30 minutes of scoreless action, the Golden Eagles broke things open before the half, scoring two goals in a nine-minute span.
Maggie Starker found herself on the receiving end of a pass from Kate Gibson in the 36th minute, and her header found the back of the net to give Marquette the early advantage. Rachel Johnson then scored her second goal in just as many games in the 45th minute just seconds before halftime.
The defense took care of things the rest of the way, holding St. Thomas to just one shot on goal in the second half. Mikki Easter posted her second consecutive clean sheet and had two saves on the afternoon.
Alexa Maletis also scored in the 81st minute. Kylie Sprecher had the assist, and it was Maletis' first goal of the season.
Marquette outshot the Tommies 12-9 and took eight shots on goal. It was the third time this season Frank Pelaez's squad has outshot its opponent.
