
Track and Field Concludes Meets at GVSU and UWM

Wallace ranks No. 2 all-time in the pentathlon
ALLENDALE, MICHIGAN – The Marquette University men's and women's track and field teams completed their pair of weekend meets at Grand Valley State and UW-Milwaukee.
A small group of multis traveled to Grand Valley State for the Bill Clinger Classic to compete in the pentathlon and heptathlon.
In the women's pentathlon, senior Megan Wallace placed second overall with a score of 3651. Wallace's score puts her at No. 2 all-time in Marquette history. Fellow Golden Eagle Katie Dingle etched her name on the top-ten list as well with a score of 3266 to put her at No. 6 all-time.
"Overall, I was really pleased with the efforts and was proud of what the women were able to accomplish," head coach Bert Rogers said.
In the men's heptathlon, senior Joe Keys lead after day one with a score of 3111. Keys didn't give up any ground on day two and took home the victory. Keys won with a score of 5631, the second-best mark of his career and just shy of his school record (5667). Sophomore Simon Werven placed third overall with a PR 4261, No. 5 all-time. Brady Heller finished behind Werven in fourth with a PR 4261 and 10th best in MU history.

JOHN TIERNEY CLASSIC
The rest of the men's and women's track and field teams competed closer to home at UW-Milwaukee in the John Tierney Classic.
In the women's triple jump, freshman Haley Schaffer took the victory with a PR 11.57 meters/37 feet, 11.5 inches. Junior Molly Evans received runner-up honors.
Senior Lindsey Mirkes placed first in the high jump with a mark of 1.71 meters/5 feet, 7.25 inches. Freshman Annika Bynum set a PR with a mark of 1.61 meters/5 feet, 3.25 inches, and took third place.
Senior Allie Flando and junior Lizzy Cagle claimed the top two spots in the weight throw. Flando won with a mark of 17.66 meters/57 feet, 11.25 inches. Cagle received runner-up honors with a mark of 17.06 meters/55 feet, 11.75 inches. Cagle also took second in the shot put with a mark of 13.41 meters/44 feet.
On the track, Junior Arianna Mansavage finished first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.07. Freshman Daylee Braden finished right behind Mansavage in second place with a PR of 59.63.
Sophomore Kate Jochims finished victorious in the 3000-meter run. Jochims finished with a time of 10:10.33.
On the men's side, Sophomore Zachariah Murray took the title in the 400-meter dash coming in at 49.91.
Other notables for the men included Patrick Hetlage (mile), Jefferson Osunkwo (triple jump), and Vinnie Voudrie (weight throw), who all received runner-up honors in their respective events. Hetlage achieved a personal best in the mile with a time of 4:17.51.

Next weekend the Golden Eagles will be competing in a pair of events. They will be sending representatives to the Meyo Invite hosted by Notre Dame (Feb. 4-5) and the Parkside Classic hosted by UW-Parkside (Feb. 5).
