1/30/2022 1:39:00 PM | Men's Basketball
Golden Eagles host Villanova Wednesday at 9 p.m. CT
The Marquette University men's basketball team (15-6, 7-3 BIG EAST) dropped a 65-63 decision at No. 17/17 Providence (17-2, 7-1 BIG EAST) Sunday afternoon in BIG EAST action.
The game was postponed from Saturday afternoon due to severe weather conditions in the area on Saturday.
Guard Darryl Morsell finished with 14 points and guard Tyler Kolek and forward Justin Lewis added 13 to lead Marquette offensively. The Golden Eagles led by as many as nine points early in the second half before the PC rally. Lewis had a putback attempt bounce off the rim in the closing seconds that would have tied the game at 65-65.
Marquette held a 29-23 advantage at the intermission, thanks in large part to a defensive effort that held the Friars to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor. MU also created 10 PC turnovers and scored eight points off those miscues.
