
XC Wraps Up Action at Bradley "Pink" Classic

15 Golden Eagles record personal bests
PEORIA, Illinois – The Marquette University men's and women's cross country teams concluded competition at the Bradley "Pink" Classic Friday afternoon. The men finished 25th and the women took 23rd in the red races. 15 Golden Eagles recorded personal bests on the day.
WHITE RACES
The meet began with the women's 6k white race. Gianna Konen was the first MU harrier to finish with a personal best time of 24:16.5 to take 68th. Konen beat her previous 6k personal best, which she ran at last year's Bradley "Pink Classic, by over a minute and a half.
Emily Capper (24:45.3), Gretchen Pfeiffer (24:57.9) and Carol Ludington (25:12.3) all achieved 6k personal bests as well. Capper and Ludington both beat their previous PRs by over two minutes, and Pfeiffer was over a minute and a half faster.
Team Captain Cade Ferron led the men's side with a season-best time of 26:22.7 to finish 42nd overall. Nathan Hirsch and Alex Watros both clocked personal best times of 27:55.6 and 29:23.4, respectively.
RED RACES
The red races began with the women's 6k. The MU women placed 23rd out of 37 teams. Junior Anna Penzkover was the top finisher for MU taking 82 of 304 with a personal best time of 21:56.5. Laurel Moneysmith finished second for MU, 108th overall, just shy of her PR with a time of 22:10.6.
Junior Kate Jochims finished third for the Golden Eagles with a season-best 6k time of 22:14.8 to take 116th. Senior captain Emily Noone finished 155th with a time of 22:41.0.
Mallory Lafever rounded out the top-five MU scorers with a time of 23:14.8 and finished 185th overall. Senior Mikaela Sullivan clocked a 6k PR in the race with a time of 23:49.1.
Sophomore David Zeller was the top finisher for MU on the men's side with a season-best time of 24:42.6 to take 72nd place out of 291 runners. Dan Weizeorick finished just off his PR with a time of 25:01.7 to take 104th.
Thomas Leonard was the third Golden Eagle to finish taking 153rd and clocking a time of 25:31.3. Freshman Sean Kellogg ran a personal best time of 25:48.2 to take 172nd. Sophomore Tyler Re wrapped up Marquette's top five with an 8k PR of 25:49.7 to take 177th.
In his first collegiate meet for MU, Keagan Morgan finished seventh for MU with a time of 26:04.3. Freshman Grant Brawley turned in a personal best time of 26:35.8.
The MU men finished 25 of 35 teams.
UP NEXT
The Golden Eagles will head to Champaign next weekend for the Illini Open on Friday, Oct. 21. That will be Marquette's final meet before the BIG EAST Championships.
