
MSOC Travels to DePaul, Hosts Creighton

MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University men's soccer team (4-7-3, 0-3-3 BIG EAST) continues to wind down regular season play this week as it travels to Chicago this Wednesday to face the DePaul Blue Demons (3-4-6, 0-2-4 BIG EAST) on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. (CT), before returning home to Valley Fields this weekend to host the Creighton Bluejays (4-3-5, 1-2-3 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m.
Entering the match with the lowest-scoring offense in the BIG EAST at just .92 goals per game this season, the Blue Demons are still in search of their first win against a league opponent. They currently sit one spot ahead of MU in the standings with four points. DePaul's scoring has come by committee this season with no player recording more than two goals, though sophomore midfielder Cade Hagan leads the squad with six points on two goals and two assists.
The Bluejays boast one of the nation's top offenses this season, entering the week eighth in scoring average with 2.58 goals per match, though that has translated to just one win and six points in league play thus far. Junior striker Duncan McGuire is having a stellar season, ranking ninth nationally and leading the league with an impressive nine goals this year.

With one of the fastest-paced and highest-scoring offenses in program history this year's Marquette squad ranks among the league leaders and nation's elite in several statistical categories.
Entering the week, the Golden Eagles rank in the top-30 in the NCAA in corner kicks per game (11th - 7.00), shots on goal per game (18th - 6.93), total goals (21st - 29), total points (24th - 81), and scoring offense (29th - 2.07).
SERIES HISTORY
Wednesday will mark the 37th all-time meeting between Marquette and Seton Hall, a series which began in 1982. In what has been a very strong series for MU, the Golden Eagles have an overall record of 30-6-1 against the Blue Demons, with an all-time mark of 12-5-1 in Chicago. Marquette has won the past five meetings, including a 1-0 result in Milwaukee last October.
All-time against Creighton, the Golden Eagles hold a 9-9-1 record in a competitive series which dates back to 1983. MU has a 4-4 series record against the Bluejays in Milwaukee. Last season in Omaha, the Golden Eagles earned a 3-1 win.
