WSOC Drops 1-0 Decision At No. 16 Georgetown

Golden Eagles back in action Sunday at St. John's
The Marquette University women's soccer team (7-7-2, 3-4-1 BIG EAST) continued BIG EAST play with a 1-0 loss at No. 16 Georgetown (12-1-4, 8-0-1 BIG EAST) Thursday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
The Golden Eagles, who have two regular-season matches remaining, are battling for one of the six spots in the conference tournament. With the loss, MU remains in the sixth position and will see if that remains the case after the league's Thursday schedule concludes.
Marquette's defense had been up to the challenge against a majority of the afternoon against its nationally ranked opponent, but Georgetown was finally able to find the back of the net in the 81st minute after MU was unable to clear a corner kick.
Georgetown hasn't allowed a goal in 12-straight matches and limited Marquette's offensive attack to just a pair of shots. Netminder Chloe Olson finished with three saves.
Marquette returns to action on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 12 p.m. CT when the team wraps up the road portion of its regular-season schedule at St. John's.
