Marquette in the mix for postseason bid
The Marquette University women's soccer team (7-7-3, 3-4-2 BIG EAST) wraps up the 2022 regular season Thursday at 7 p.m. CT when the squad hosts Xavier (12-2-4, 6-0-3 BIG EAST) on Senior Night.
Prior to Thursday's match, the Golden Eagles will honor the 12 members of its 2022 senior class for its contributions dating back to the 2017 campaign.
MU In Mix For Postseason Spot
Marquette enters the final match of the regular season in the hunt for one of six spots in the BIG EAST Tournament.
The Golden Eagles can secure a spot with a win or a draw, but either way will need help from a variety of results across the conference.
A victory over the Musketeers would give MU 14 points, but Butler and UConn could also finish with that same total and a tiebreaker would be utilized to determine final seeding. In that scenario, Marquette would claim the No. 5 seed, courtesy of a win over Xavier.
MU is in search of its first trip to the league tourney since 2017.
MU Enjoys Series Success
The Golden Eagles are 9-3-0 all-time against Xavier, but the Musketeers have claimed three of the last five outings.
XU earned a 3-1 decision in the most recent outing on Oct. 17, 2021, with Alexa Maletis netting Marquette's lone goal on an assist from Hailey Block. Marquette claimed a 1-0 win on April 8, 2021 on a goal from Block early in the second half.

Rachel Johnson, Bonnie Lacey and Katrina Wetherell, who have combined to play almost 200 matches for MU, were recognized in 2021 and came back for one final season.
The Golden Eagles will also celebrate the careers of Grace Allen, Hailey Block, Elizabeth Bueckers, Alex Campana, Isabella Cook, Mikki Easter, Josie Kelderman, Emma Tabor and Maddie Tabor.
MU Celebrates 30th Birthday
The Golden Eagles celebrate their 30th birthday in 2022, and welcomed back former players to campus Oct. 13-16 for a reunion.
The program has collected nearly 375 wins during its tenure and participated in the NCAA tournament on 13 occasions. MU has claimed 10 regular season league titles in Conference USA and BIG EAST action and four conference tournament titles.
Individual success includes 119 all-conference honorees, 49 all-region selections, 19 national team appearances and 17 All-America accolades.
SENIOR SALUTE
Rachel Johnson and Bonnie Lacey are continuing their progress toward a doctorate in physical therapy, Katrina Wetherell is completing her graduate certificate in sports leadership and Elizabeth Bueckers earned her bachelor's in kinesiology from IUPUI and is working on a certificate in sports leadership as well. Each of the four players was recognized in 2021 during Senior Day, but returned for one final season of competition.
A three-year letterwinner, Grace Allen is a multiple selection on the BIG EAST All-Academic Team. Allen will earn her bachelor's in social work and justice, with minors in law and society and family studies and she plans to attend law school following graduation.
Hailey Block has started each of the team's 17 matches in 2022 and owns 41 career appearances since her all-conference campaign at Southeast Missouri as a freshman. She owns three career goals at MU and has assisted on four other scores. Hailey will complete her undergraduate work in exercise physiology before beginning the physical therapy program.
Midfielder Alex Campana has appeared in 60 career matches dating back to 2019 and owns five career goals, including two game winners, and a pair of assists. A two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Campana owns a 3.91 grade point average with a double major in accounting and marketing.
Isabella Cook has started all 17 matches in her first season with the Golden Eagles since transferring from Tennessee and has collected three goals and a pair of assists in 2022. She has one-game winning score and is currently working on her bachelor's degree in sociology.
Netminder Mikki Easter has appeared in 27 career matches for the Golden Eagles and in 2021 was ranked among the league's best in shutouts. She made 16 starts last season and was named BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the week in October. Easter will graduate from the exercise physiology program, with a focus on athletic training.
A BIG EAST All-Freshman Team selection in 2019, Josie Kelderman has appeared in 36 career matches for the Golden Eagles. Her lone career goal was the game winner at Minnesota. A member of the BIG EAST Academic Honor Roll, Kelderman is working on her bachelor's in corporate communications, with minors in political science and public relations.
Emma Tabor has appeared in 27 career matches for the Golden Eagles, including three starting assignments. Tabor will graduate with a degree in biomedical sciences and a minor in neuroscience and is on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a current grade-point-average of 3.989.
Maddie Tabor scored a goal against Chicago State in the spring of 2021 in her Golden Eagles debut. A member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, Tabor will graduate with a degree in biomedical sciences with a minor in Spanish and is also on track to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a current grade-point-average of 3.988.
Reyna Johnson has served as team manager since January. The North Muskegon, Michigan native will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
