GOLDEN EAGLES NOTES
Both the men and women finished sixth at last year's BIG EAST Cross Country Championships. The MU men return three of their top five scorers from 2021. Dan Weizeorick (36th) finished first for MU, Zak Kindl (39th) finished second for the Golden Eagles, and Jadon Conroy took 51st overall. The women also return three of their top five scorers in Kate Jochims (28th), Laurel Moneysmith (44th) and Emily Noone (51st).
Jochims has finished first for the MU women in four of the five meets she has competed in, including a first-overall finish in the season opener at Eastern Illinois. Her performance earned her BIG EAST Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors.
Junior Anna Penzkover has been a consistent scorer for the women finishing in the top three in all five meets she has run in this season. The River Lake, Wisconsin native is coming off a personal best performance at Bradley with a time of 21:56.5 to finish first for MU and 82nd overall.
On the men's side, Sophomores David Zeller and Tyler Re have been mainstays for the Golden Eagles. Zeller has finished in MU's top three in four of five meets this season and was the top finisher in the last two meets. In his second season, Re has finished first for Marquette in two meets and has scored in every meet this season.
