Golden Eagles continue season Oct. 13
The Marquette University women's soccer team (6-6-1, 2-3-0 BIG EAST) dropped a 1-0 decision at Seton Hall (5-6-2, 1-4-0 BIG EAST) Thursday night in BIG EAST Conference action.

The two teams were scoreless at the intermission and senior Elizabeth Bueckers accounted for three of the team's seven shots on goal. Defender Caroline Cline, making her first start of the season, saw a header sail just over the crossbar after a free kick for Marquette's best scoring chance.

The two teams traded opportunities throughout the second half, with SHU finally finding the back of the net in the 82nd minute. A Pirates' corner kick sailed to the far side of the box, but SHU was able to settle the clearance attempt and sneak a shot back across the goal inside the right post.

Marquette finished with a 15-9 advantage in shots and netminder Chloe Olson finished with four saves.

Senior Katrina Wetherell, who was injured in training in late August, returned to action for the first time since Aug. 25. The Golden Eagles were without the services of consistent starters Rachel Johnson, Josie Kelderman, Katie Koker and Maggie Starker, who are all out with injuries.

Marquette returns to action on Thursday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. CT when the team hosts Providence at Valley Fields.
