#MUBB Pulls Away For 79-64 Win At Notre Dame

Golden Eagles open BIG EAST play Friday vs. Creighton
The Marquette University men's basketball team (8-3, 0-0 BIG EAST) wrapped up the non-conference portion of its 2022-23 campaign with a 79-64 victory at Notre Dame (7-3, 0-1 ACC) Sunday afternoon.
Guard Kam Jones led the way with 25 points, his third 20-point game in the last four outings, and forward Oso Ighodaro chipped in 16 points and 18 rebounds for his third-career double-double and second this season.
Marquette opened the second half with a quick 7-0 run and forced a Notre Dame timeout just 90 seconds in. MU led by as many as 20 points and Jones chipped in 17 of his 25 points after halftime.
The Golden Eagles dominated the lane, finishing with 50 points in the paint and 15 offensive rebounds.
The Golden Eagles led 34-29 at the intermission after shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and holding the Fighting Irish to just 35.7 percent from the field. Ighodaro had 10 points and 10 rebounds in 15 minutes of action and Kam Jones chipped in seven points.

- Sunday's outing was the 119th between the two programs, but first since 2013. Notre Dame will complete the home-and-home series in 2023-24 at Fiserv Forum
- Oso Ighodoro had his third-career double-double in the first half (10 points, 10 rebounds). He finished with a career-best 18 rebounds, the most since Henry Ellenson had 16 boards against Providence in double overtime on Feb. 10, 2016
