
Track & Field Set for Blue Demon Holiday Invite

DePaul will host 2023 BIG EAST Indoor Championships
MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University men's and women's track & field team heads to Chicago Friday, Dec. 9 for the Blue Demon Holiday Invite at DePaul.
Nine teams will be competing at DePaul's Gately Park: Marquette, DePaul, Butler, Chicago State, Illinois State, Loyola and UW-Milwaukee. MU will get its first look at Gately Park this season which will be the host site for the BIG EAST Indoor Championships. Â
The meet will begin at 2 p.m. CT with the field events. Track events will begin at 5 p.m. with the women's 60m hurdles. Live results for the meet can be found here.
LAST TIME OUT
Last week, the Golden Eagles began the 2022-23 indoor season at Notre Dame and the Blue & Gold Invitational.
UP NEXT:
The Golden Eagles will be off during winter break and will return to action Friday, Jan. 20 back at DePaul for the Blue Demon Alumni Classic.

- 30 Golden Eagles achieved personal bests in their events.
- 13 newcomers made their Marquette track & field debuts
- Zachariah Murray and Daylee Braden both won the 500 meters on their respective sides. Murray ran a PR and the No. 6 time in program history with a time of 1:04.89. Braden ran a PR of 1:16.63, No. 7 all-time at MU.
- Annika Bynum cleared a personal best height of 1.70 meters/5 feet, 7 inches in the high jump. Bynum's mark ties her for 10th all-time in program history. She placed second in the event.
- In the women's throws, Veronica Walinski threw a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 13.39 meters/43 feet, 11.25 inches to place second in the event. Walinski also threw a PR of 14.59 meters/47 feet, 10.5 inches in the weight throw. Mikayla Wise took third in the weight throw with a PR of 16.07 meters/52 feet, 8.75 inches.
- Other notables, Harry Baker (high jump), Alex Lesperance (long jump) and Cade Ferron (800m) earned runner-up honors in their respective events.
