
Track & Field Conclude Final Meet of 2022 at DePaul

The Golden Eagles resume indoor season on Jan. 20
CHICAGO, Illinois - The Marquette University men's and women's track & field team completed action at the Blue Demon Holiday Invite hosted by DePaul Friday evening. 28 Golden Eagles set personal bests, and two moved up the top ten all-time lists.
"Overall, it was a pretty good second meet," said head coach Bert Rogers. "We had a couple athletes get on the top 10 list and we had a whole lot of personal bests as well."
Last time out, sophomore Daylee Braden ran the seventh fast time in program history in the 500 meters. This time around, she recorded another top 10 mark in the 300 meters. Braden made her way around the track in a personal best time of 40.76, good for fifth all-time and second in the event. Braden also took third place in the 400 meters with a time of 57.42.
In the women's high jump, Sophomore Annika Bynum earned runner-up honors for the second meet in a row, clearing the bar at a height of 1.71 meters/5 feet, 7.25 inches to set a lifetime best. Her mark moves her up one spot to ninth all-time at Marquette.
It was a clean sweep for the MU women in the 800 meters, with freshman Carol Ludington taking first overall with a personal best and meet record of 2:22.37. Stephanie Mauzer (2:26.89) finished runner-up and Emily Capper took third with a PR of 2:28.73.
In the men's 4x400 relay, the team of Zachariah Murray, Cade Ferron, Mitchell Van Vooren and Julian Wright finished second overall with a time of 3:25.80.
Other notables included Marquis Ward, who placed second overall in the triple jump with a mark of 14.19 meters/46 feet, 6.75 inches. Harry Baker took third place in the men's high jump with a mark of 1.95 meters/6 feet, 4.75 inches.

The Golden Eagles will be off during winter break and will return to action Friday, Jan. 20 back at DePaul for the Blue Demon Alumni Classic.
