Popovic, Desmarais, Badawi claim singles wins
The Marquette University women's tennis team (3-5) opened its weekend road swing with a 5-2 loss at Northern Illinois (7-0) Friday afternoon in non-conference action.
NIU opened the match by claiming the doubles point and was able to earn three singles victories to claim the team win. MU senior Natalija Popovic improved to 5-1 in dual competition with a 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 win at the No. 1 spot. Also earning singles wins for Marquette were Elisabeth Desmarais at No. 5 and Sarah Badawi at No. 6.
