Marquette Owns Narrow Edge In Series
  Â
Marquette owns a slim 18-14 advantage in the all-time series, with the Golden Eagles claiming wins in eight of the last 11 outings. Â
  Â
All but two of the series matchups have come since Marquette joined the BIG EAST in 2005-06.
  Â
The programs first met during the 1941-42 campaign and the Hoyas were able to claim a 35-34 victory. Â The next meeting didn't come until the 1971-72 season and Marquette posted a winning 88-44 decision.
  Â
The Golden Eagles claimed the first meeting this season, earning a 92-64 win on the road on Jan. 7. Â Forward Olivier-Maxence Prosper led three players in double figures with a career-high 22 points in that game and Marquette shot 59.1 percent from the floor as a team.
Regular Season Enters Home StretchÂ
  Â
Saturday's game at Butler concluded a run for the Golden Eagles that saw the team play 5-of-7 BIG EAST outings on the road.
  Â
Marquette has played just a pair of games at Fiserv Forum in the last month (Jan. 15 vs. Seton Hall and Feb. 2 vs. Villanova), but will now conclude the year with 3-of-5 at home beginning with Wednesday night's outing against Georgetown. Â MU also takes on Butler Feb. 26 on National Marquette Day and will host St. John's on March 5 for Senior Day.
Late Rally At Butler Falls Short
  Â
Marquette trailed by as many as 21 points in the first half at Butler on Saturday before closing the gap to as few as four points, but could get no closer in the 85-79 setback.
  Â
Forward Justin Lewis led all scorers with 27 points and guard Tyler Kolek chipped in 17 points in 29 minutes of action. Â All of Kolek's points came in the second half and his total was one short of his season high, set twice this year against West Virginia (Nov. 19) and Villanova (Feb. 2).
  Â
Guard Greg Elliott added 13 points off the bench, reaching double figures (17 points at UConn) in back-to-back games for the first time since the league opener at Xavier.
Lewis Both Naismith, BIG EAST POY CandidateÂ
