Golden Eagles next head to Creighton for a Sunday matinee
MILWAUKEE -Â Freshman Kam Jones scored a career-high 19 points as the Marquette University men's basketball team defeated Georgetown, 77-66, on Wednesday evening at Fiserv Forum.
Jones scored 17 of his 19 points in the first half as the Golden Eagles (17-9, 9-6 BIG EAST) pulled away for their second win of the year over the Hoyas. Graduate big man Kur Kuath posted a season-high 15 points on a perfect night from the floor (7-of-7) along with four rebounds and three blocks.
Georgetown (6-19, 0-14 BIG EAST), which shot 29 percent from the floor, was led by 15 points from Collin Holloway. Donald Carey and Dante Harris each scored 14.

- Forward Justin Lewis finished with 13Â points, reaching double figures for the 24th time this season and 12th-straight BIG EAST game.
- Marquette is 19-14 all-time against the Hoyas and have won nine of the last 12 outings in the series. MU is 12-3 when the games are played in Milwaukee.
- MU broke free from a 23-23 tie midway through the first half with an 11-0 run, which included three 3-pointers from Jones.
- Jones tied is previous career-high in 3-pointers with his fourth of the game at the 4:43 mark of the opening half and notched his fifth with 2:08 to play in the first. He ended the stanza with 17 points, already a single-half high for him this season, and his highest scoring mark in BIG EAST play.Â
- Guard Tyler Kolek posted a career-high 11 assists. His previous high mark of 10 came on Jan. 11 against DePaul.
- Tonight's assist total of 26 was MU's second-highest of the season. MU had 27 on Jan. 11 against DePaul.
- The only other time this season that Kuath has reached double digits (10 points) also came in that game against the Blue Demons.
- Marquette and Georgetown met for the first time this season on Friday, Jan. 7, a 92-64Â Marquette win at Capital One Arena. Olivier-Maxence Prosper led the Golden Eagles with a career-high 22 points in the victory and 11 Golden Eagles recorded points.
