Golden Eagles return to action Saturday on National Marquette Day
The Marquette University men's basketball team (17-10, 9-7 BIG EAST) dropped a tough 83-82 decision at Creighton (18-8, 10-5 BIG EAST) Sunday afternoon in BIG EAST action at the CHI Health Center.
Marquette was led by guard Darryl Morsell's 23 points and guard Kam Jones chipped in 18 points off the bench.
The Golden Eagles had their opportunities down the stretch, but were unable to finish good looks at the rim in the closing minutes. MU led 78-73 with just over four minutes remaining, but scored just four points the remainder of the game as Creighton was able to rally for the win.
Both teams were clicking offensively in the first half and the result was a 46-46 tie at the intermission. The Golden Eagles knocked down 53 percent of their shots, but the Bluejays were even better at 57 percent, including six treys.
