#MUBB Rallies For 64-56 Win Over Butler Saturday

Golden Eagles celebrate National Marquette Day
The Marquette University men's basketball team (18-10, 10-7 BIG EAST) rallied for a 64-56 win over Butler (13-17, 6-13 BIG EAST) Saturday afternoon at Fiserv Forum on National Marquette Day.
Guard Darryl Morsell led the team with 16 points and forward Justin Lewis chipped in 11 points and seven rebounds.
MU trailed by as many as nine points in the first half and seven early in the second, before finally taking the lead 48-47 with 8:39 left on a Morsell jumper. The Golden Eagles wouldn't trail the rest of the way and pulled away for the eight-point victory.
Marquette trailed 33-30 at halftime after shooting just 35.5 percent from the floor as a team. Morsell led the way with eight points and the reserves chipped in 15 points, half of the team's total.Â

Notables:
- Marquette closed the all-time series gap to 24-23 with the win and salvaged a split of the season series
- Saturday's crowd of 17,504 was the first sellout of the season and the largest crowd since 17,538 fans watched MU against Seton Hall on Feb. 29, 2020
- Freshman guard Kam Jones (replaced Olivier-Maxence Prosper) was in the starting lineup for the first time Dec. 21 against UConn, a span of 14 games.
- Forward David Joplin finished with five points, his most since seven points Dec. 21 against UConn (14 appearances)
- Guard Stevie Mitchell scored five points in the second half, his highest total since netting five against Georgetown on Jan. 7.
