Five Golden Eagles score in double-figures as Marquette earns road win
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Marquette women's basketball team (18-8, 11-6 BIG EAST) posted a 64-57 road win over Georgetown Friday night at McDonough Arena.
"I love the grit of our team," said Marquette head coach Megan Duffy. "It's always difficult to come in and play Georgetown on their home floor with a bunch of young kids that are hungry. I thought in the fourth quarter we finally loosened up on the offensive end, had some great cuts and movement, and did enough defensively to clog the paint."
In an evenly-spread effort for the Golden Eagles, five different players reached double-figures in the scoring column led by graduate guard Karissa McLaughlin's 14.
After a strong start to the game, Marquette opened up an early double-digit lead, going up by as many as 12 points (26-14) early in the second quarter. The Hoyas clawed back into the game, eventually cutting the MU lead down to just one with 1:40 left in the third quarter, but the Golden Eagles were able to maintain control to come away with the win.
For the third time in the past four games, junior guard Antwainette Walker made a strong impact off the bench for Marquette, going for 10 points and matching a game high of eight boards. Jordan King, Liza Karlen and Lauren Van Kleunen each scored 10-plus as well.
Georgetown (7-16, 2-13 BIG EAST) was paced by the duo of Milan Bolden-Morris and Ariel Jenkins who each finished with 12 points.

Lauren Van Kleunen moved into Marquette's all-time top-10 in career rebounds, passing Christina Quaye (2003-07) to move into 10th She currently has

This was Antwainette Walker's fourth-career game with 10-plus points. Three of those outings have come in MU's past four contests.

-
Marquette shot 41 percent (26-of-63) from the floor, 57 percent (4-of-7) from 3-point range and 80.0 percent (8-of-10) from the free throw line.

With the win, Marquette is now 24-4 all-time against Georgetown, posting 10-straight wins in the series.
