Soccodato and Foust combine for eight points in loss to Ducks
EUGENE, Ore. — The Marquette women's lacrosse team (4-6, 0-0 BIG EAST) closed out its two-game west coast road trip with a loss to Oregon Sunday afternoon, falling 16-9.
Despite the Golden Eagles taking 31 shots in the contest, and winning the draw control battle 15-13, they were unable to slow down the Ducks' offensive attack as eight different Oregon players scored.Â
Emma Soccodato and Lydia Foust propelled Marquette's offense as the midfield duo recorded four points apiece. Foust had a team-best three goals to go along with an assist, while Soccodato finished with two goals, two assists and a team-best seven draw controls.Â
Freshman attack/midfielder Meg Bireley recorded her fifth multi-goal performance of the season as she finished with two, while Mary Schumar and Elise Smigiel also made their way into the scoring column.Â
After getting off to a 6-6 start to the game, the Golden Eagles surrendered six-straight goals as Oregon was able to gain separation while limiting MU to just three second-half scores.
Amanda Rumsey and Brynna Nixon split time in goal for MU, Rumsey playing the majority of the contest and recording nine saves.Â
Oregon (2-6, 0-3 Pac-12) was paced by Shonly Wallace who finished with six points on five goals and an assist.
