QUEENS, New York – Freshman Bobby O'Grady scored eight goals as the Marquette University men's lacrosse team set numerous program records in a 23-13 victory over St. John's on Saturday at DaSilva Memorial Field.
O'Grady recorded a hat trick by the end of the first quarter and the Golden Eagles (4-6, 2-0 BIG EAST) continued their offensive onslaught throughout, posting a seven-goal run in the middle of the second half to pull away. O'Grady, the reigning BIG EAST Conference Freshman of the Week, now has 14 goals in his first two games of league action.
Faceoff specialist Luke Williams won a career-high 21 of the 27 faceoffs he took and picked up 16 ground balls, while adding a goal and assist. Williams and Thomas Washington combined to win 28 at the dot to break the program record of 24 set in 2019 against Michigan.
Devon Cowan also added a hat trick and pair of assists, while freshman Will Foster turned in a career-best four assists and six total points. Goalie Mike Allieri made several spectacular saves in the MU net for a total of 13 on the day.
The Red Storm (2-9, 0-2 BIG EAST) had just two players score in the game, as Jonathan Huber posted seven goals and Brian Kelly scored six times. Conversely, MU had 10 players find the back of the SJU net.

- Marquette jumped out to a 10-3 lead within the first minute of the second quarter and led 8-3 after one quarter. MU out-shot SJU 20-7 in the opening frame.
- MU used a five-goal run to go up 10-3 and then 23-11 at the end of a seven-goal run.
- The Golden Eagles have won nine of the 10 all-time meetings against St. John's, including nine straight victories. The Red Storm won the first matchup between the two, 15-10, on April 27, 2013, in Queens, but MU has won the last nine games.
