Golden Eagles continue homestand Sept. 1 vs. UIC
The Marquette University women's soccer team (1-2-0) opened its three-match homestand with a 1-0 loss against Milwaukee (1-1-0) Thursday night at Valley Fields in non-conference action.
The matchup was the first between the two programs since 2019, with the Panthers now owning a narrow 11-10-8 record in the all-time series.
"We are improving and heading in the right direction," head coach Frank Pelaez said. "We have a lot of good pieces out there and had some great opportunities against a quality program, we just need to be a little bit more aggressive and finish our chances when we have them."
Senior Elizabeth Bueckers was an early substitution in the match after Elsi Twombly left with an injury and immediately made an impact with a pair of quality chances. She finished with four of the team's six shots on goal.
The Panthers scored the lone goal of the match in the 27th minute, touching home a cross from the left side just in front of the goal.
Marquette returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 1 when the team continues its homestand against UIC at 7 p.m. CT.
