MILWAUKEE – The No. 23 Marquette University women's volleyball team hit a season-best .418 in a 25-13, 25-16, 25-21 sweep of Milwaukee on Sunday at the Al McGuire Center.
Aubrey Hamilton and Hattie Bray each led the Golden Eagles (6-1) with eight kills, while Bray also hit .667 with a pair of blocks. Marquette never trailed in the first and third sets on its way to its second sweep of the season.
The Panthers (1-7), who were limited to .226 hitting, had four players record at least six kills and were led by seven from Natalie Schmitz. Team kill leader Madi Malone hit .000 with three errors offsetting three kills.

NOTABLES:
- Marquette holds a 34-46-1 record against the cross-town foe with its most recent matchup coming in 2017, which was a 3-0 MU sweep. Despite the series record, Marquette has defeated the Panthers in the last 12Â meetings, with the last loss coming in 2006.Â
- The Golden Eagles picked up a 12-point win in the opening set after hitting .480 (15-3-25) along with four service aces. Jenna Reitsma led MU with four kills.
- Ella Foti had a personal 4-0 run to put MU up 11-7 in the second set following three consecutive service aces.Â
- Foti ended the match with six kills and four service aces. MU notched 10 aces on the afternoon.
- Carsen Murray, who had six blocks in the fourth and final set against LSU on Sunday, had four blocks against the Panthers.
- Freshman Ella Holmstrom, who had a career-high 17 against Loyola Chicago on Tuesday, posted all five of her kills in the third set.Â
- Junior Anastasija Svetnik made her season debut for MU with an ace and kill in the third set. She missed the first six matches of the year with a preseason knee injury.
- Sunday's match was First Responders Day, honoring those on the front lines safeguarding the Milwaukee community.
- The Panthers are led by Susie Johnson in her 26th year with the program, including 10 years as an assistant and associate head coach. MU head coach Ryan Theis worked with Johnson and the UWM women's volleyball program during his time as an undergraduate on the East Side before graduating in 2000. Johnson is also the aunt of MU director of volleyball operations Ellie Adams.
