
Lyons Leads Badger Invitational After First Round

The Golden Eagles are tied for fourth at 4-under
MADISON – The Marquette University men's golf team completed round one of the Badger Invitational Monday afternoons. The Golden Eagles currently sit tied for fourth place at 4-under-par (284) as a team heading into round two tomorrow. Â
Sophomore Max Lyons leads the field through the first round with a 5-under-par 67. Lyons went out with three birdies in his first five holes. On the back nine, he added three more birdies with only one bogey for the whole round. Lyons currently leads by one stroke with six players tied at 4-under-par.
Bhoom Sima-Aree made three birdies on the front nine but recorded a bogey and double bogey to make him even at the turn. Sima-Aree only bogeyed one hole on the back nine and had two birdies to shoot 1-under-par on the back and for the round.
Senior Tyler Leach finished his day even-par (72). On the back nine, Leach recorded three birdies in a four-hole stretch making birdies on holes 13, 15, and 16.
Nicolás Evangelio finished his first round tied for 45th with a 74 2-over-par. Patrick Adler is 3-over-par (75) and tied for 56th individually heading into round two.
Round two will begin Tuesday at 8 a.m. Texas A&M leads the tournament at 9-under (279) after one round.
Badger Individual
Aidan Lafferty and Josh Robinson represented Marquette as individuals in the Badger Individual at Pleasant View Golf Course.
The two Golden Eagles were able to avoid weather delays and play the first round of the Badger Individual as scheduled on Sunday morning. Robinson finished his first round tied for eighth at 4-over-par (75) after going 1-under par on the back nine. Robinson went on to shoot a 2-over 73, going 1-under on the back nine for the second day in a row. Robinson finished tied for sixth with a 6-over-par 148.
Lafferty shot a 7-over 78 in his first round recording four birdies during the round. The junior went into round two tied for 14th. Lafferty went on to record three more birdies during his closing round, finishing with a 77. He finished 13-over-par (78-77) to place T18.
