Golf in Second Place at Windon Memorial Classic

Leach and Lyons in the top five through first two rounds
SKOKIE, ILLINOIS – The Marquette University men's golf team completed rounds one and two of the Windon Memorial Classic at Evanston Golf Club hosted by Northwestern. The Golden Eagles are in second place at 3-under par through 36 holes.
After a first round team score of 5-over par (285), the Golden Eagles heated up in the second round posting a score of 8-under (272) as a team.Â
With a first round 6-over 76, Bhoom Sima-Aree began his second round with three consecutive birdies. Sima-Aree would peak at 6-under par for the round after making eagle on the par-5 13th but would give a few strokes back with a double bogey and a bogey on Nos. 15 and 18, respectively. Sima-Aree finished the round at 3-under (67) and moved to 3-over par for the tournament.
Max Lyons was the low-man for MU in round one with a 2-under par 68. Lyons followed up with a 1-under par 69 in the second round to move to 3-under for the tournament and sits tied for fifth.
Tyler Leach had a strong showing as MU's No. 5 going 4-under par through the first 36-holes. After an even-par first round, Leach holed six birdies in his second round in route to recording a 4-under 66. Leach is in fourth place heading into tomorrow's final 18 holes.
After a first round 2-over par 72, Nicolás Evangelio posted an even par 70 with two birdies and two bogies. Josh Robinson is 6-over par (75-71) and tied for 43rd after the first two rounds of competition.
As a team, the Golden Eagles made the third most birdies in the field with 27. MU was the only squad to make two eagles, courtesy of Lyons and Sima-Aree.
Marquette will head into the final round trailing leaders Kent State by one stroke.
