Golden Eagles to host Michigan, travel to face Wisconsin
MILWAUKEE — The Marquette University men's soccer team (2-1-0, 0-0 BIG EAST) prepares to take on a pair of Big Ten opponents this weekend as it continues its 2022 non-conference campaign. The Golden Eagles will play host to the Michigan Wolverines (1-2-1, 0-0 Big Ten) on Friday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. at Valley Fields before traveling to Madison for an in-state matchup against the Wisconsin Badgers (1-2, 0-0 Big Ten) on Monday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. at UW's McClimon Track and Soccer Complex.
After posting an 8-7-3 record in 2021, the Wolverines have started this season with a win, two losses and a draw in their four contests. The team returns seven of its top nine goal scorers from a year ago, including graduate midfielder Kevin Buca who netted a team-best five goals.
The Badgers are off to a 1-2 start to the year after finishing the 2021 season with a 7-7-3 overall record. UW lost four of its eight goal scorers from last year. The team will travel to face UAB on Friday before returning home to host the Golden Eagles.
HALLWOOD NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Following his performance in Marquette's 1-0 win over South Florida last week, senior goalkeeper Chandler Hallwood was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll. The Halifax, England, native had a strong showing in his season debut, playing all 90 minutes in net and earning the shutout. He faced 15 shots, making six saves in the contest.
ANDRADE EMERGES AS STRONG SCORING THREAT
One of the top early-season storylines for the Golden Eagles this year has been the emergence of senior midfielder Zyan Andrade in the scoring column. Through the first few seasons of his career (two with Marquette, two with San Francisco), the Rio de Janeiro native had totaled three goals. Just three games into the 2022 campaign, he has already matched his career total with a team-best three goals.
Andrade has always been a strong facilitator, and ranked tied for second in the BIG EAST last season with six goals, but his emergence as a scorer has been crucial to the team's success this season. His three goals are ranked tied for second in the BIG EAST.

SERIES HISTORY
The Golden Eagles and the Wolverines have matched up five times, Marquette holding a 3-1-1 advantage in the series. The last contest between the squads came on Sept. 10, 2018, a 3-0 win for Michigan in Ann Arbor. In Milwaukee, MU leads 1-0-1.
Monday's contest will mark the 61st all-time meeting between in-state rivals Marquette and Wisconsin, the longest-running series in MU's history. The Badgers hold a 31-18-11 advantage historically, though the past 10 results have been split evenly. Marquette is 9-15-5 all-time in Madison.
All-time against current Big Ten programs, Marquette holds a 52-57-17 record.
