Kolek records career-high 15 assists
The Marquette University men's basketball team (13-4, 5-1 BIG EAST) posted a 95-73 victory over Georgetown (5-12, 0-6 BIG EAST) in Saturday's BIG EAST matinee.
BIG EAST assists leader Tyler Kolek recorded a career-high 15 assists along with seven points and four steals.Â
MU opened up the second half with an 11-2 run in the opening two minutes to build a seven-point lead after trailing by two at the break. Kam Jones paced MU in the second half, scoring 15 of his 17 points. After shooting 14 percent from beyond the arc in the first half, MU found the stroke from distance, making 10 threes on 67 percent shooting.
Marquette led by as many as 28 points in the second half.
The Golden Eagles trailed the Hoyas 36-34 at the half after Georgetown knocked down a shot at the buzzer. Kolek recorded eight of the team's 11 first-half assists, the most assists by a Golden Eagle in a half this season.
