PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island – The Marquette University women's volleyball team hit .367 in a 25-9, 28-26, 25-12 sweep of Providence on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Hall behind 16 kills from outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton.
Senior middle blocker Carsen Murray hit .667 with 10 kills on 15 errorless swings, alongside a match-best four blocks for the Golden Eagles (8-7, 4-0 BIG EAST), who received contributions throughout their lineup. Sophomores Ella Holmstrom and Sienna Ifill had four and three kills, respectively, without any hitting errors, and redshirt freshman middle Morgan Daugherty made her career debut and served the final point.
The Friars (6-10, 0-4Â BIG EAST) hit .130 in the loss and were led by nine kills from Shaliyah Rhoden.Â

NOTABLE:
- Marquette is 18-0 all-time against the Friars.
- MU has won 54 of the 56 sets played between the programs and has not lost a set to the Friars since the Sept. 10, 1999 meeting to kick off the series. MU won that first matchup 3-2 in Milwaukee.
- The Golden Eagles used a 10-0 run midway through the first set to pull away for the commanding 25-9 victory. It is the lowest opponent set score this season for MU.
- In the nine matches (29 sets) since Hamilton was held to a -.042 (5-6-24) hitting percentage against then-No. 9 Pitt on Sept. 8, she is hitting .347Â (126-27-285) with 4.34 kills per set, 10 service aces, 46 digs and 20 blocks.
- Marquette rallied from an early four-point hole in the second set and hit set point first at 24-23. MU had to fight off PC set point, 26-24, in the frame for the 28-26 victory.
- MU hit .457 in the opening stanza and .455 in the third.
- The Golden Eagles had 17 kills in each of the three frames and Yadhira Anchante posted 42 assists, her highest total this season in a sweep and her fourth-highest single match total in any contest this year.Â
- Marquette has won at a 74.8 percent clip (211-71) since joining the BIG EAST and is 126-27 (.824) in BIG EAST matches under head coach Ryan Theis.
- MU is 87-12 (.879) in BIG EAST play over the last seven seasons (2017-23) under Theis, including consecutive regular season league titles in 2021 (16-2) and 2022 (17-1).
