Golden Eagles host DePaul for Wednesday matinee

MILWAUKEE – The Marquette University women's volleyball team hosts DePaul at 11 a.m. Central time on Wednesday at the Al McGuire Center.

The match airs live on FloSports with Matt Menzl on the call and live statistics available through GoMarquette.com.

MU also welcomes No. 15 Creighton to the Al McGuire Center on Friday night for a 7 p.m. CT showdown. All fans are encouraged to wear white at Friday's match. The first 200 students will receive a free 'White Out the Al' t-shirt and the first 100 will also receive free Shake Shack burgers.

MARQUETTE (8-7, 4-0 BIG EAST)

Outside hitter Aubrey Hamilton leads MU with 208 kills (3.71 per set) on .273 hitting and was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the third time in as many weeks. She hit .403 last weekend in wins at UConn and Providence with 4.14 kills per set.
In the nine matches (30 sets) since Hamilton was held to a -.042 (5-6-24) hitting percentage against then-No. 9 Pitt on Sept. 8, she is hitting .347 (126-27-285) with 4.20 kills per set, 10 service aces, 46 digs and 20 blocks.
Middle blocker Carsen Murray hit .516 against the Huskies and Friars with 2.71 kills and 0.86 blocks per set.
Setter Yadhira Anchante helped the Golden Eagles hit .308 in the two matches last week with an average of 11.29 assists per set. The Marquette offense posted 14.71 kills per set in the two matches and received 2.14 service aces per set from its lineup.
Redshirt sophomore right-side hitter Ella Foti chipped in five aces (0.71 per set) against UConn and PC along with 3.57 digs per set, the second-best mark on the team behind libero Sarah Kushner (4.14).
Marquette has won at a 74.8 percent clip (211-71) since joining the BIG EAST and is 126-27 (.824) in BIG EAST matches under head coach Ryan Theis.
MU is 87-12 (.879) in BIG EAST play over the last seven seasons (2017-23) under Theis, including consecutive regular season league titles in 2021 (16-2) and 2022 (17-1).
Hattie Bray's 11 blocks against Villanova on Sept. 22 are the most for a MU player in a three-set match since former AVCA All-America outside hitter Kimberly Todd posted 11 against San Francisco on Sept. 15, 2006 at the Al McGuire Center.
The Golden Eagles sit 24th in the season's first NCAA women's volleyball RPI rankings released on Oct. 1. BIG EAST foe Creighton is 17th.
MU has played one of the nation's 10 toughest nonconference schedules according to the Massey Ratings.
MU has nine matches this season against teams currently ranked in the AVCA Coaches Poll (No. 1 Wisconsin, No. 5 Oregon, No. 7 Pitt, No. 12 Tennessee, No. 15 Creighton (twice), No. 17 Kansas, No. 19 Purdue, No. 22 Dayton. MU is six spots outside of the rankings with 10 total points, while Western Kentucky, Marquette's first opponent this season, is one spot outside the top 25 with 81 points.

DEPAUL (10-5, 3-1 BIG EAST)

The Blue Demons have won 10 of their last 12 matches since opening the year with three losses.
They are winners of their last three BIG EAST Conference matches with victories over Villanova, Providence and UConn.
DePaul took a 2-1 lead at UConn and held off the Huskies in five sets on Sunday afternoon in Storrs. Outside hitter Jill Pressly had a season-high 26 kills in the win.
Pressly leads the Blue Demons with 234 kills (4.50 per set) on .211 hitting and 164 digs (3.15 per set). She leads the BIG EAST in both kills and points (4.90) per set.
Libero Rachel Krasowski averages a BIG EAST-best 5.23 digs per set and DePaul is second in the league in digs per set (16.35) behind Creighton.
Freshman Meghan Scholz from Tomahawk, Wisconsin leads the BIG EAST with 1.17 blocks per set (54 total) and DePaul averages a league-high 2.52 blocks per set as a team.
Head coach Marie Zidek is in her sixth season at DePaul.

SERIES HISTORY WITH DEPAUL:

Marquette is 41-29 all-time against the Blue Demons in a series that began in 1982.
The Golden Eagles have won 24 consecutive meetings in the series, dating back to the 2009 campaign. MU's last loss to DePaul was a five-set defeat on Nov. 1, 2008 in Chicago.
Since both teams joined the BIG EAST for the 2005 campaign, MU has won 27 of 28 matches.
