MU heads to Omaha to compete
MILWAUKEE -Â The Marquette University cross country teams will be competing in the Platte River Rumble in Omaha, Nebraska, which will be held on October 13th. Creighton University will be hosting the event.Â
The Gans Creek Classic will begin 1 p.m. CT. The women's team will be running an 6k, and the men's team will be running an 8k shorty after the conclusion of the women's 6k. There will be 16 teams competing Friday afternoon in this event. Joining Marquette and Creighton will be Nebraska, Omaha, Kansas City and North Dakota State among others,Â
Last Time Out:
The Golden Eagles last event was the Gans Creek Classic. The men's team competed in the 8k race. Senior Captain Dan Weizeorick lead the Golden Eagles, finishing first for MU with a time of 25:13.7.
Sophomore Tyler Re finished second with a personal best of 25:30.1. David Zeller finished third for the Golden Eagles with a time of 25:41.9. Freshman Brady Nelson recorded a personal best of 27:00.6 in his first competition.
For the women's team, they competed in the 6k race at the Gans Creek Classic. Senior captain Lexi Keppler finished first for Golden Eagles with a time of 23:35.5. Keppler recorded a personal best in the race.Â
Freshmen Emma Coon (23:49.2) and Brinley Everson (24:10.1) finished second and third for the Golden Eagles in the 6k race. Both Coon and Everson recorded a personal best in the event. Mia Nutile finished fourth for MU with a time of 24:21.0.Â
